The Ugly Reality of RAPIST
The unequal power distribution between men and women is at the root of rape. In most things, the unequal distribution of power has deep roots in customs, traditional culture, contemporary culture, history, the law of the land, schooling, and social role models.

Rape is defined as unlawful sexual activity, most commonly involving sexual intercourse, committed against the victim's will through force or the threat of force, or with an individual who is incapable of giving legal consent due to minor status, mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception. Rape has been subsumed under the crime of sexual assault in many jurisdictions. Rape was once thought to be the result of unbridled sexual desire, but it is now recognized as a pathological assertion of power over a victim.

Rape statistics are notoriously difficult to obtain.

The most significant complication is that most

victims of sexual violence choose not to report it.

There are numerous reasons for this decision,

including embarrassment, victim shaming, fear of

retaliation

from the rapist, and even fear of

how

the victim's own family will react.

Furthermore, many countries' anti-sexual assault laws

are insufficient, inconsistent, or not

consistently enforced. This can lead to the victim

believing that involving law enforcement will

be pointless and, in some cases, will make matters

worse rather than better.

Whatever the reason for a victim's silence, the result

is that rape is vastly underreported in many

countries. It is estimated that approximately

35% of women worldwide have experienced sexual

harassment in their lifetime. However, in most

countries with data on rape

(including the United States),

fewer than 40% of those women seek help, and

fewer than 10% seek assistance from law

enforcement. As a result, most rapists go unpunished.

In the United States, for example, only about

9% of rapists are prosecuted, and only about 3% are

imprisoned. Rapists are free in 97% of cases.

What Causes Rape?

During a Youth and Truth discussion, a student asks

Sadhguru about the origins of rape.

discusses the generational and cultural shifts that

have deprived youth of solutions that would

normally satisfy physical and emotional needs.

Instead of concentrating on punishment,

Sadhguru believes that we should debate and

address the issue of sexual violence.

Q: Sir, we portray our India as a woman and refer

to her as "Mother India." Even though,

we see many rape cases, including those in which a

man rapes his own mother, daughter,

or sister. What drives a man to commit such an

inhuman act in the name of pleasure?

Satguru: We call it "Mother Earth." Does this mean that

all crime on the planet will completely

stop? No. There are various types of crime.

Sexual assault on women is common. There are

several aspects to this. We can become angry and

say, "OK, hang them." If you bring hanging

as a punishment for rape, you must understand that

the victim is almost always the only witness

in a rape case. What do you think a rapist will do if

you promise him that if he rapes and is caught,

he will hang?

India has only 10% to 15%, of female police officers.

This was demonstrated in an Indian judge survey,

where 60% to 70% of respondents agreed on

the same point. It's harsh, but it's true.

Domestic violence acceptance

Domestic violence is viewed as deserving in

Indian society. According to one of UNICEF's

reports, 57% of Indian boys and 53% of Indian

girls believe that beating a wife is justified. 

Women are being judged-

are considered immoral and the same

judgment is not for men. In most Indian societies

believes and accepts this reasoning behind rape,

then women in India are definitely not safe in

public places.

What is the underlying cause of rape culture?

The "domination and objectification of

women," according to some, is the root cause of

rape culture.

Academic theory, on the other hand, holds that

rape culture does not always have a single cause,

and that causes can be localized based on other

social aspects of culture.

The reasons for rape for these men are feelings of

rejection, actual rejection, emotional insecurity

and immaturity, childhood brutality, and an unloving

or emotionally sterile home environment.

Is the rise in 'rape culture' due to pornography?

Access to pornography is a contributing factor

to the problem.

It's a complicated issue with no simple solution.

Some experts warn against making connections,

while others claim porn weakens the theory of

permission.

While access to online porn is increasing,

experts say it's unclear whether sexual harassment,

abuse, and assault among young people is

increasing as well, as might be expected from a

simple link.

Myths vs facts

There are numerous myths about rape, sexual assault,

sexual abuse, and other types of serious

sexual violence.

In our society, myths about rape, sexual assault,

sexual abuse, and other forms of sexual violence

wield considerable power.

This is dangerous because these myths cause

serious harm. They can make victims and survivors

feel ashamed or blame themselves for what

happened, making it difficult for them to discuss or seek

help.

These myths can also influence how victims and

survivors are treated by services and organizations

that are supposed to help them, as well as by their

own families and friends.

MYTH:

Women who drink or use drugs deserve to be raped.

Fact: 

Regardless of the circumstances, no one is ever to blame for being raped or sexually assaulted.

Raping or sexually assaulting someone is always a crime, and the perpetrator or perpetrators bear full blame, shame, and responsibility for the crime.

MYTH:

Women lie about being raped for attention or revenge, or because they regret having sex with someone.

FACT:

False rape allegations are extremely rare. In fact, most victims of rape or other forms of sexual violence never report it to the authorities.

MYTH:

It wasn't raped if she didn't scream, run away, or fight back.

Fact:

It is very common for victims of rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse, or other forms of sexual violence to

be unable to move or speak. This is one of our bodies' automatic reactions to fear, and it is intended to keep us safe.

It's also one of the reasons why many people

don't have visible injuries after being raped or subjected

to other

forms of sexual violence.

Facts About Sexual Assault

Fact:

Sexual assault can and has occurred against men,

women, and children of all ages, races, religions, and

socioeconomic backgrounds. Sexual assault occurs

in rural, small-town, and urban areas. By the age of eighteen,

it is estimated that one in every three girls and one

in every six boys will have been sexually assaulted.

Fact:

Sexual assault is NEVER the victim's fault. Sexual assault

is a violent attack on an individual, not a

spontaneous act of sexual desire. It is a humiliating and

degrading act for a victim. No one "asks" for or

deserves this type of attack.

Fact:

The majority of sexual assaults are carried out by

someone the victim knows. According to studies,

approximately 80%-90% of women reporting

sexual assaults knew their attacker.

Fact:

Sexual assault can occur at any time and in

any place. The majority of assaults take place in places

that are normally considered safe, such as homes, cars,

and offices.

Fact:

Hostility, power, and control drive sexual assault.

Sexual violence is not motivated by sexual desire.

Humans, unlike animals, have the ability to control

how they act on or express sexual desires.

The Only Way to Prevent Rape Is Through

Human Transformation!

Sadhguru speaks at length about the issue of rape –

why it happens and what are the most effective

means of preventing such acts in society.

The brutal gang-rape of a 23-year-old woman in

New Delhi in December 2012 sparked national outrage

and protests. The horrific nature of the assault left

the victim with serious injuries, to which she eventually

succumbed. Following this incident, the culprits

were sentenced to death by the courts.

Although this solution appears to be justified, is

law enforcement a long-term solution to a problem that

appears to be deeply rooted in today's society?

Sadhguru says, "No." According to him, "statistics show that

96% of rapes occur within the four walls of the home."

This is never investigated by law enforcement. This is

beyond the reach of the law." He believes the problem

stems from "investing too much in the physicality of life."

Why Rape?

Though there may be a sexual stimulus to rape, it is

not solely about sexuality. It is about having power.

This desire to possess stems from a variety of factors.

A fundamental mistake that societies have made is

instilling in the minds of the youth, particularly

the male youth, the notion that a female is an object

that can be possessed.

Either someone's father can give her away, or you

can take her if he refuses. Isn't it still present?

There is an idea in the background, somewhere very

deep in the psychological structure, that a

woman is a commodity.

A commodity is something that doesn't have its own

mind. As a result, this is consciously implanted

in some places and unconsciously implanted in

many others. However, it is deeply embedded in

people's minds.

Will Punishment Really Work?

Punishment cannot be used to deal with the vast

majority of the population. If 10%, 15%, or 20%

of a society's population commits a crime, you

cannot punish 20% of the population. If it is 1%, you

can punish them and deal with the consequences.

Do you want to execute 20% of the population?

That will be worse than rape.

People believe that punishment serves as a deterrent.

Perhaps to some extent. For the vast majority

of people, it is not. They will simply try to be more

careful. They'll try to be more cautious about it.

Maybe it will go down because they have to take

more precautions. However, when it occurs in one's

mind, it implies that when the opportunity arises,

it will occur in reality.

The Solution

Humanity has a lot of looking to do. One particular rape

case has pushed the nation's sense of

morality to breaking point. Using this, it's time to consider

the necessities of life.

The fundamental goal is to possess, humiliate, and

subjugate another human being.

This is due to a sense of inadequacy, of incompleteness

within, which can only be alleviated

by possessing something.

It makes no difference whether you go shopping or

raping to fulfill this desire. Something is

lacking, and you want to compensate by acquiring

something. This will yield a plethora of

hideous expressions. It will not be satisfied with

just one thing.

So the solution is not simply to contain it; the solution

is to transform the individual human being.

If the world is to change, the first step is to be willing

to invest time in your own transformation.

It is the most important thing to do. If we do not

transform individuals, we will be left with a world

full of criminals.

Is there a difference between a

closet rapist and a street rapist?

Transformation means that you are not defined by

the opinions or presence of others.

Every parent must invest in their children in

order to transform them into more inclusive

human beings.

Inclusion simply means that your identity is not limited to

the boundaries of your physicality.

So, the only ultimate solution is to invest in a

spiritual possibility, a possibility beyond one's physicality.

This is the long-term solution if you want

long-term benefits.
